Russian pianist Roman Kosyakov is a graduate of the Central Music School, Moscow, and the Moscow Conservatory, currently studying at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. He began this year's series of Derby Cathedral lunchtime recitalsDerby, UK, 11 May 2018 — with a double-bill of strongly contrasting sonatas.

In Haydn's Sonata in E minor (Landon No 53, Hoboken XVI:34) he delivered the first movement's almost sturm und drang edginess with both vigour and clarity, and the no-nonsense ending was neat...
