Full-scale operatic voices aren't necessarily best-suited to Buxton's Pavilion Arts Centre. In Jennifer Davis and Caroline Dowdle's chosen programme of songs and arias, plus and minus points were more or less equally balanced. (Buxton Festival, Buxton, UK, 9 July 2018)

They certainly captured the breathless excitement of Juliet's 'Je veux vivre dans ce rêve' from Gounod's Roméo et Juliette, but at times there was simply too much heft for this acoustic...
