Something Really Special

Bliss, Elgar and Vaughan Williams from
Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Elizabeth Watts,
Martyn Brabbins and the BBC Symphony Orchestra,
heard by MIKE WHEELER

Martyn Brabbins and the BBC Symphony Orchestra are currently recording a complete cycle of the Vaughan Williams symphonies for Hyperion. If the CD of the Pastoral Symphony is anything like the performance we heard live (and which was recorded by BBC Radio 3 for future broadcast) it should be something really special — Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham, 23 November 2018.

They began with the Prologue and Five Dances from Bliss's ballet Checkmate...
