Marco Vinco's Count Asdrubale is attractive enough but just too rich for comfort. The result is hangers-on by the yard, and little chance, apparently, of finding a potential wife desiring him rather than his bank account. The best bet seems to be Marie-Ange Todorovich as Clarice, and there they are telephoning each other on either side of the pool.

They are mutually compatible, but Asdrubale is uncertain how far he can trust her. So far they have played only amorous games, as has been his practice hitherto. The result seems to be confirmed bachelordom, unless he can devise a convincing 'touchstone' (the work's title) to test her.
