Their drunken orgy, thoroughly enjoyed by the Barcelona men, is dampeningly interrupted by their womenfolk, who strongly disapprove.

Khovansky is summoned to a council meeting by the regent Sophia. Though ready decked in court finery, he hardly leaves his house before being murdered by the pet dwarf, one of the director's odder conceits.
