The American harpsichordist and writer (and occasional contributor to Music & Vision) Igor Kipnis was born on 27 September 1930 and died on 24 January 2002. Son of the great Russian bass Alexander Kipnis, both his career as a keyboard player and critic has been distinctive and widely admired.
