Marguerite Long

Born in Nîmes on 13 November 1874, the French pianist Marguerite Long has long been regarded as one of the supreme interpreters of French piano music of her time. This applied particularly to the works of Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel. She premièred Ravel's G major Piano Concerto, which is dedicated to her. She taught for many years at the Paris Conservatoire, where her students included Jacques Février and Aldo Ciccolini. She died on 13 February 1966.
