William Steinberg

William Steinberg, born in Cologne on 1 August 1899, was assistant to Klemperer at the Cologne Opera for several years. He conducted in Europe and Palestine before conductorship of several leading American orchestras from 1938. He also directed the London Philharmonic in the late sixties. He died in New York on 16 May 1978.
