Katsaris plays Liszt Vol 1. © 2011 Piano 21

Till this moment I have frequently encountered the name of French-Cypriot pianist Cyprien Katsaris (born Marseilles, 1951); I've even read snatches regarding his reputation, yet through it all I've missed hearing him live, broadcast, or on disc.

Little have I realized what I was missing.

Now I discover he was chosen to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Frédéric Chopin's death at Carnegie Hall (in October 1999).

Worldwide authorities and audiences applaud him as among the most versatile, imaginative and innovative pianists of his generation...
