Donizetti's 'Don Pasquale',

Gaetano Donizetti wrote Don Pasquale in late 1842. It was first performed on 3 January 1843 at the Théâtre des Italiens in Paris with an all-star cast including Giulia Grisi as Norina, Mario de Candia as Ernesto, and Luigi Lablache as the Don. That same year the opera was seen at La Scala in Milan, as well as in Vienna and London. It reached New York and St Petersburg the next year...
