BILL NEWMAN listens to
young Chinese pianist Jianing Kong

 

Jianing Kong first took lessons at four, making his first public appearance at six. Working at Canton Conservatory of Music and the Purcell School of Music he studied under the legendary Ronald Smith -- pupil of Edwin Fischer. Bachelor and Master Degrees and an Artist Diploma at the Royal College of Music afforded him the Mills William Junior Fellowship. His teachers were Ruth Nye -- frequent broadcaster, Gordon Fergus-Thompson and Dmitri Alexeev, his present mentor...
