Peter Gould at the organ of Derby Cathedral,

A larger than usual audience gathered for the first of the recitals this year to be given by a member of the 'home team', Master of the Cathedral Music, Canon Peter Gould, who opened his programme [8 August 2012] with a contrasting set of Baroque pieces.

The Prelude and Fugue (St Anne) BWV 577 is amongst the longest of Bach's organ works and it is likely that this Prelude and Fugue were never intended to be performed together. On this occasion Peter Gould interspersed two contrasting Gigue fugues: the first in C by Buxtehude the other the well known Gigue in G BWV 552 by Bach...
