Carl Orff (1895-1982) was a most prolific composer, particularly for the stage, but his name remains tied to just a handful of works. Carmina Burana remains one of the most popular choral works of the twentieth century, but other than that, his compositions are rarely performed. Praises then to Wergo which, with this DVD, has recently bolstered up the Orff discography with five very fine stage-works that one hardly knew about...
