Here is work by two victims of 1940s Nazi death camps and by escapee-composer Vilem Tauský (1910-2004). His Coventry -- Meditation for String Orchestra recalls the Luftwaffe's West Midlands blitzkrieg, at its most destructive on 14 November 1940.
Three items are by Czech composer and pianist Erwin Schulhoff (1894-1942) and a twinned Chamber Symphony and String Quartet by Austrian composer, conductor and pianist Viktor Ullman (1898-1944). The Ullman pieces are arranged for string orchestra by American conductor and cellist Kenneth Woods...
