Brahms symphonies roll from international recording conveyor belts today as much as ever. Yet till recently Polish conductor Stanisłav Skrowaczewski (born 1923) has often flown beneath the CD radar.

His complete set of Anton Bruckner symphonies, made with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, has received reasonable acclaim, as well as a 2005-06 complete Beethoven symphony cycle with the DRP. Another noted recording is his Brahms Piano Concerto No 2 (Mercury Living Presence LP MG50301, released 1994) with the London Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with soloist Gina Bachauer (1913-1976)...
