Jack Perla's 'Jonah and the Whale',

Jonah and the Whale is a new opera by Jack Perla that had its world première on 21 March 2014 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles. It's a work based on the Bible story, but librettist Velina Hasu Houston has fleshed it out and made it a little more human than usual. Director Eli Villanueva did not have a great deal of room to move his actors around, but he used the space given to best advantage.
