In all honesty, the name of Bronius Kutavičius is completely new to me, and I guess to many others as well. Born in 1932 in Lithuania, he is one of the most respected composers in his native country, and apart from the fame that he enjoys as a teacher, he has been honoured with a spate of local and international awards in recognition for his work. Kutavičius' music has a strange air of mystery about it. He has the perfect means to mesmerize his audience and involve them in his rituals, and like an architect, he builds precise edifices that sound complicated when in fact, on closer examination, they are easy to analyse in terms of form and structure...
