From the age of eleven Sophie Harris studied with William Pleeth, subsequently attending the Chethams School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music.
On graduating Sophie joined and spent five years with the Smith Quartet, performing at numerous European Festivals.
Since 1995 Sophie has created new territory for solo cello, working with some of today's best known composers including Gavin Bryars and Steve Reich. She has commissioned works by Django Bates, Graham Fitkin and Matteo Fargion...
