'The florid accompaniment with piano trio seemed wholly apt to me.'

The collectively named 'Billy Collins Suite' is a selection of his diverse, thought-provoking poems set to music by American composers aged between thirty-two and seventy-six. Each of these composers, and many of the performers, have been closely associated with 'Music in the Loft' (MITL), an adaptable body of pro-active Chicago musicians (founded 1992), with a profile enhanced by Cedille Records.

The MITL website describes its rationale thus: 'Music in the Loft is dedicated to advancing the professional careers of today's finest young musicians by providing a venue for the performance of chamber music in an intimate and acoustically superior setting.'

Indeed throughout the present disc the musicians bring their skills and understanding to every one of all eleven items...
