Anna Netrebko
The Russian operatic soprano Anna Netrebko was born in Krasnodar on 18 September 1971. She studied at the St Petersburg Conservatoire and worked at the Mariinsky Theatre, where she made her stage début under the guidance of Valery Gergiev. She has sung in many different countries, including at New York's Metropolitan Opera and Carnegie Hall, and at the BBC Proms. She currently lives in Vienna.
